HSL on behalf of the Department of Defence applied and were granted a Dumping at Sea permit from the EPA for dredging of 27,000 tonnes of material for the inner basin of the Naval Base. This project was essential to maintaining navigability for Department of Defence vessels withing the inner basin.
The Department of Defence appoint UKD as the dredging contractor. HSL provided bathymetric surveying and Marine Mammal Observer services to ensure compliance with the EPA permit as well as to ensure the efficient completion of the project. Dredging was via the traier suction dredge UKD Orca.
The project was completed succesfully in July 2017.
